Altagracia Pérez-Bullard on the Role of the Church in fighting for working people

We're excited to conclude our series of interviews on racial capitalism this week with Graduate Student Fellow, Rev. Francisco Garcia Jr.'s interview of The Rev. Canon Altagracia Pérez-Bullard, Ph.D., the Director of Contextual Ministry and Assistant Professor of Practical Theology at Virginia Theological Seminary.

Francisco and Dr. Pérez-Bullard explore the harsh realities for working people of color in our current economic conditions and how the church can stand in solidarity with them. Rev. Dr. Pérez-Bullard ends our series on a note of hope.

Be sure to check out our previous interviews, like Dr. Joerg Rieger’s interview with Dr. Angela Cowser, Associate Dean of Black Church Studies and Doctor of Ministry programs at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, and Dr. Aaron Stauffer’s interview with Dr. Vincent Lloyd, Associate Professor of Theology and Religious Studies, and Global Interdisciplinary Studies at Villanova University.

Everything is being laid bare and I’m prayerful that we will all take advantage of the opportunity to question and then to assess what are the changes that need to happen to make us a more humane society that is about more than just money.
